We’re hiring a Controller to join our Finance team. Reporting to the VP Finance, the Controller will build and scale Unit’s financial operations. They will be responsible for owning our control processes, leading our annual audit, driving monthly close, preparing consolidated monthly financial statements, in addition to managing tax, treasury, insurance, and billing. This is a leadership role that will manage an internal team, in addition to our outsourced accounting firm.
The position is based in New York City.
Oversee day-to-day accounting and financial operations
Maintain and improve internal controls, systems, policies, and close processes.
Own GAAP financial reporting and audit deliverables
Manage tax compliance and reporting requirements
Oversee client billing and collections
Build and coach internal accounting team
We are open to a variety of backgrounds, but we believe the best candidates will have some combination of the following:
8+ years of professional accounting experience
CPA license with experience at a “Big 4” accounting firm
Deep understanding of US GAAP
Strong attention to detail and analytical skills; comfort with Excel and SQL (or willingness to learn!)
Prior experience in fintech or working with multiple diverse revenue types (usage-based SaaS, payments, physical goods)
Resilient, proactive, and collaborative with a desire to work in a fast-growing, unstructured environment where you have the ability to have a massive impact.
The base salary for this role is expected to be $200,000 - $240,000 per year. In addition, employees at Unit can expect generous benefits and may be eligible for equity and/or variable compensation. The final offer will be determined by factors including experience level, expertise, and location.
