Description
This position will be supporting the Human Resources (HR) Services Team. The team provides support to the Church workforce and other Church HR Professionals throughout the world. The services the team provides include: Leave Management, Background Checks, Relocations, Conflicts of Interest, New Hire Orientation, On-Call Management, Benefits Support, Leadership Development, HR Process Improvement, and others. This intern position will be reporting to the HR Services Manager and/or the HR Process Improvement Specialist. The intern will provide transactional support on day-to-day operations and be engaged on key strategic process improvement projects within the HR Department. They will have the opportunity to collaborate with HR Representatives and other workforce members throughout the internship.
This is a full-time internship position with an expected duration of one (1) year. This position will be located in Salt Lake City with multiple days per week required in office. Basic medical benefits will be provided.
Responsibilities- Complete project tasks as assigned by the HR Services Manager and HR Supervisor
- Frequently collaborate with HR Services Team members and other HR professionals
- Provide day-to-day transactional HR support through ticket management system
- Communicate with HR Representatives and employees on HR transactions
- Support HR Process improvement initiatives, tracking notes, leading breakout groups, and completing other necessary project documentation to support project management
- Provide analytical support on projects, including basic data cleanup, analysis, and reporting
- Lead internal process improvement efforts for selected HR processes
Qualifications- Must be currently enrolled in a college or university program, or a recent graduate (within previous 12 months)
- Ability to utilize computer and Microsoft Office Suite products to effectively complete tasks
- Ability to easily and quickly learn new computer programs and systems
- Ability to capture, prioritize, track, and execute on tasks in consultation with manager
- Basic understanding of HR functions and employment law
- Beginning to Intermediate ability in Excel (experience with various formulas, pivot functionality, etc.)
- Excellent written and oral communications skills
- Experience in providing excellent customer service
- Ability to read and follow detailed instructions with limited supervision
- Open to experience, and keen to learn and receive constructive feedback
- Some experience with project management
- Ability to align with and magnify organizational goals and objectives
- Demonstrated computer skills with significant experience in spreadsheet, database, presentation, word processing, and e-mail software products
- Excellent writing, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal skills;
- Work well in a team environment and promote the standards and teachings of the Church in the work setting;
- Ability to analyze and document complex legal situations and effectively explain them to others;
- Demonstrated initiative to complete projects and stay on task;
- Demonstrated attention to detail and experience in research;
- Experience in a legal setting helpful but not required, training will be provided.
- Must be able to quickly learn complex processes.
