HR Operations Director

The Opportunity: The Smithers group is currently looking for an Operational Director Human Resources for our team. Our ideal candidate has worked in a fast-paced international environment where the details, quality, teamwork and a great culture matters. This is a dynamic position in a growing company, and a great opportunity to work in a multitude of areas within Human Resources. The role reports directly into the Vice President of HR and drives operational HR initiatives and delivery.

In this role, you will:

  • Work with the Global HR team, with input from Smithers Executives, to develop and execute human resources processes in the areas of but not limited to:
    • Compliance, Administration, Employee Relations/Contact, Executive compensation, HR Metrics, Reporting and Records.
  • Working directly with Executive Team and external constituents on global HRIS design implementation and utilization. Responsible for working cross-functionally to ensure appropriate deliverables/ content, messaging and presentation of project benefits are delivered on time and on budget.
  • Take the lead on Talent Management and Succession Planning for the business, working with HR Business Partner and Leaders to ensure solutions offered fit for their business’s requirements and needs.
  • May participate in strategic priorities and projects as arise (M&A, Strategic Recruiting or other strategic Organization Projects)
  • Develop a good understanding of current issues and trends to and provide timely, well-reasoned recommendations and solutions.
  • Develop briefings based on HR projects data and research as the central point of contact for the EVP of Human Resources
  • 10 - 15% Travel 

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has a strong action orientation, detail focus, analytical/critical thinking skills, and possesses solid project -management and deliverables development
  • A combination of solid leadership capability and strong understanding of strategic and actionable HR solutions will be important attributes.
  • You will be highly deadline-oriented, with strong multitasking, project management and prioritization skills.
  • It is vital you display excellent verbal and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence change and process improvements at all levels of the organization.
  • Has experience with large HR initiatives to drive business results. Experience in HR Strategy and Approach development along with regulatory and compliance
  • Communicates and leads in a manner that fosters greater understanding, employee engagement and commitment to results.
  • Exhibits servant leadership, sensitivity and teamwork.
  • Any Global experience will be advantageous

Required Education, Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent 
  • 10+ years within HR
  • Proactive leadership and project management track record for HR initiatives, processes, and policies
  • Ability to take and provide feedback from all levels of stakeholders and influence in return
  • Management and execution of large, complex projects with a senior stakeholder population (from conception to implementation)
  • HR generalist or working on human capital initiatives with knowledge of talent acquisition, training, total rewards and compliance projects
  • Think on your feet problem solving ability; strong executive presence
  • Ability to look at things from a strategic lens and the ability to translate them to HR processes and positive business impact.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of the employee population
  • Detail oriented with both quantitative and qualitative outputs
  • Knowledge of State and Federal employment laws
  • Good knowledge of various HR systems and their integration

Desired Education/Certification:

  • Degree in business management, HR or related discipline
  • PHR/SPHR or like certification preferred
  • Experience with UKG preferred
