Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field. Two years of Infrastructure Management or Network Management experience. Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Specific License or Certification Required: Network certifications (CCNA, CCNP) preferred.
Specific Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities: Must be knowledge of network control protocols (DHCP, QOS, POE, IPv4, HTTP, DNS 802.11a/b/n/ac and network management protocols (CDP, FTP, SNMP).

Purpose of Classification:
The purpose of the Network Engineer is to ensure that County wired, wireless networks, and telecom systems are operating in accordance with Service Level and Operating Level Agreements, including network, wiring network protocols and firewalls. The infrastructure Engineering will also work with Support and Operation team to ensure that any network issues and outages are resolved in a timely manner.
Essential Functions:
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Participate in implementation efforts for major network expansions, upgrades or new functionality. Perform tasks assigned according to provided implementation plan documents; expand or upgrade network or telephone infrastructure. Provide technical support for network and telephone infrastructure.
Monitor and maintain the County network infrastructure including controller, load balancers, access points and VPN devices; troubleshoot and resolve network hardware/software issues and repair defective components.
Monitor usage to ensure for sufficient capacity of network and telephone system; update system configuration to provision new infrastructure components or adjust to change in the technical environment.
Operates the county wired and wireless network infrastructure and telephone system; work directly with County network and infrastructure related vendors, Asset/Configuration Manager, Technical Architect and Support and Quality Management.
