Description

The Nursing Administrator is a registered professional nurse with progressive administrative experience. This individual supports Nurse Managers, Associate Nursing Directors, and senior nursing leadership in the management of clinical units/specialty areas, fulfilling responsibilities for hospital and patient care services on assigned shifts.



Responsibilities
  • The Nursing Administrator is a registered professional nurse with progressive administrative experience who supports Clinical Nurse Managers and Clinical Directors of clinical unit groups/specialty areas to fulfill responsibilities for the overall management of the hospital and patient care services on assigned shifts.
  • Assist clinical nurses in solving patient care problems and develop patient management and leadership skills.
  • Oversees patient care delivery, throughput, staffing, and processes to ensure efficient and effective operations during assigned shifts.
  • Supports, implements, and interprets the philosophy, objectives, policies, and standards for nursing care of patients and families.
  • Investigate patient complaints and apply appropriate interventions as necessary. Refers to follow-up solutions to the clinical nurse manager or another appropriate person.
  • Assists nursing personnel to establish and implement safety standards and to monitor the environment for hazards. Assists nursing staff with needle-stick injury follow-up as per Blood and Body Fluids Exposure policy (Infection Control policy).
  • Evaluate nursing staff performance and mentors, coaches, counsels, and discipline staff as needed.
  • Responds to various hospital emergencies and escalate to appropriate leadership, including acting as incident commander during evening/night shifts and weekends/ holidays.


Qualifications

Bachelor of Science with a major in nursing required; master?s degree in nursing or healthcare-related field preferred.

Three years of clinical experience including Med/Surg with progressive nursing leadership experience preferred

Licensed as a registered nurse with current registration in New York State

Basic Life Support (BLS) Issuing Agency: AHA
