The Wonderful Company is seeking an experienced Senior Benefits Specialist to join the Total Rewards team. The Senior Benefits Specialist will work closely with Human Resources departments across the organization, Payroll, and onsite clinics as well as directly with our membership.

The Senior Benefits Specialist will be responsible for all member outreach, claim escalations, communications, and education. This role will also assist with the day-to-day operations of global group benefits programs (medical, dental, vision, life insurance, flexible spending plan, wellness programs, etc.). This position provides excellent customer service to a variety of internal and external client groups. The individual works well independently and is self-motivated but also excels at partnership opportunities among team members and throughout the organization. This role will require proactive collaboration and relationship maintenance with HR partners, vendors, and brokers.

This position can be based at our offices in Los Angeles, CA, or Delano, CA. We work a hybrid schedule with an in-office requirement Monday-Wednesday and the option to work remotely on Thursday and Friday.

Job Description

  • Manage inquiries received via the benefits email inbox and answer benefits & wellness questions received from employees, onsite wellness centers and HR teams.  
  • Execute employee education and communications during the annual open enrollment process as well as for new hires throughout the year.
  • Intervene and manage employee claim escalations efficiently with internal parties as well as vendors and bring to resolution.
  • Run and own daily benefits processing, new hire enrollments, COBRA, terminations, changes, beneficiaries, disability, etc. 
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve problems in HRIS and benefits platforms related to benefits.
  • Tailor benefit & wellness communications across multi-cultural, multi-generational workforce in various levels of the organization and multiple communication mediums (guides, summaries, newsletters, intranet, etc.). 
  • Lead distribution and updates to all materials for benefits orientations, open enrollment and summary plan documents.
  • Respond to and resolve employee eligibility, medical insurance billing & utilization questions & concerns in both internal systems as well as with external vendors and carriers. 
  • Document and maintain administrative procedures for assigned benefit processes and assist with any administrative processes and improvements as needed. 
  • Manage health promotion and wellness programs including health screenings, flu shots and others across multiple locations. 
  • Prepare and analyze basic reports as needed for benefits administration. 
  • Administer international benefit & wellness programs. 
  • Additional duties include facilitating presentations to employee groups and individual employee consultations. Travel will be required, as needed.
  • Support benefits program compliance with related laws, rules and regulations, as needed.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of business experience in HR or a related field is required
  • Minimum of 2 years of benefits experience required (experience with self-insured plans preferred)
  • Experience working in a large (1,000+ employee), complex organization
  • Bilingual English / Spanish Preferred
  • Knowledge and experience with HR software applications (ideally UKG and PlanSource)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Work, Outlook and PowerPoint)
  • Customer-service oriented with experience interfacing with clients at all levels in an HR or healthcare capacity
  • Experience providing guidance and consultation regarding policy and procedures
  • Proven problem-solving ability and analytical skills
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to navigate difficult situations with empathy, discretion, and professionalism
  • Ability to handle matters of confidentiality with utmost tact and diplomacy
  • Capability to exercise sound judgment and work well under pressure to effectively manage priorities and meet timelines and deliverables
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

Pay Rate: $84,000 - $90,000 and may include a discretionary bonus. Final compensation will be dependent upon skills & experience.
