Starting Wage: $53,677.83 - $80,516.75

Position Summary:
The Payroll/HRIS Specialist is responsible for preparing and processing payroll to ensure timely and accurate employee compensation, under the oversight of the Payroll/HRIS Manager. Additionally, the Payroll/HRIS Specialist will support the administration of the human resources information system, along with its associated systems and software.
Core Duties and Responsibilities:
The Payroll/HRIS Specialist is responsible for the following duties:
- Prepare and process payroll on a bi-weekly basis for Fortune Bay Resort Casino and all additional companies of the Bois Forte Development Corporation.
- Reconcile tips and gratuities accrued each pay period to the tip workbook spreadsheet to prepare them for payment to the appropriate employees.
- Maintain accurate and detailed files on employee garnishments.
- Collaborate with the Human Resources staff to ensure accurate payroll deductions for pension and insurance obligations, compensatory time, and leave of absences.
- Assist with quarterly and annual reporting and compliant practices.
- Perform general ledger accounting functions including, but not limited to, journal entries, account reconciliation, verifications, and adjustments.
- Produce pay statement history reports and verification of employment reports as requested by employees.
- Respond to requests for verification of employment and/or income from county or tribal offices or other approved institutions.
- Address issues brought forth by employees regarding paychecks, leave balances, and distribution of tips. Instruct employees on the proper use of ADP to produce requested documentation through “ADP Employee Self Service”.
- Maintain trends and job knowledge by participating in educational and training opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining professional networks, and participating in professional organizations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Payroll/HRIS Manager or the Director of Human Resources.

Qualifications – Education and Experience:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate’s Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or Accounting
- 3 years’ experience in payroll processing or related position
- Proficient with the following:
- Microsoft 365
- ADP Workforce now or comparable HCMS
- Strong competency in Microsoft Excel
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or Accounting
- 5 years’ experience in Human Resources, Accounting or Payroll Processing
- Certification in Payroll or HRIS Administration (e.g., CPP, CHRIS)
- SHRM Certification
- Advanced knowledge of ADP Workforce Now platform
- Adobe Acrobat Sign platform administration
