Press Operator

This position is primarily responsible for work performed on the Ink Jet and Offset Presses. Job functions include producing color printed material utilizing plating technology. Additional functions include troubleshooting, servicing and maintaining the presses and cost effective use of consumables.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Reads work orders to determine setup specifications and instructions.
• Follows all standard operating procedures relevant to the job, position, and department.
• Performs routine adjustments during the press run and maintain quality throughout the run.
• Performs all assigned work effectively and on schedule.
• Keep all supplies filled and organized.
• Assembles materials and stages stock at assigned unit for next job to be run.
• Assists Press Operator in maintaining production standards.
• Maintains records of daily production, using specified forms.
• Mount press plates and set adjusting mechanisms for register and paper size.
• Ink press and damper rollers.
• Perform minor repairs and preventive maintenance on the press, including cleaning, adjusting, oiling, etc.
• Maintains and fills ink foundations and set-up dampening system (checks pH and conductivity; holds at required level).
• Keeps work area neat and clean.
• Meets all defined departmental standards for quality, productivity, efficiency, and waste.
• Complies with all safety and health policies, procedures, and practices; actively supports safety improvement initiatives; uses materials and equipment in an appropriate and safe manner; carries out all tasks in a manner to not create a hazard to oneself or others.
• Supports organizational goals and values.
• Performs other duties as required.
