A prestigious partner hospital is seeking a dedicated and experienced Regional Medical Director to oversee a portfolio of 20-35 animal hospitals in the Denver, Phoenix, Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, Austin, Houston, or Dallas. This field-based position presents a dynamic opportunity to work closely with veterinary teams, ensuring the highest standards of patient care and operational success. The Regional Medical Director will collaborate with hospital staff to drive medical excellence, foster team development, and ensure the continued growth of the region’s practices.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor veterinary teams, assisting with complex cases and creating a supportive, collaborative environment.
  • Monitor and elevate patient care standards, ensuring adherence to best practices and medical protocols.
  • Resolve staff and client conflicts, fostering positive communication and problem-solving.
  • Collaborate with practice managers and regional directors to optimize business operations and improve hospital performance.
  • Conduct quarterly inspections to ensure quality standards across all practices in the region.
  • Analyze and review key performance metrics (KPIs), including revenue, patient visits, and patient outcomes, and implement improvement strategies.
  • Mentor and support new graduate veterinarians, helping them grow in their careers and adjust to their new roles.
  • Oversee compliance with all medical, operational, and regulatory standards, including licensing and DEA logs.
  • Provide assistance in filling urgent staffing needs and resolving challenging medical cases across the region.

 

Ideal Candidate: The ideal candidate is an experienced veterinarian with strong leadership skills and a passion for advancing animal welfare. The ability to communicate effectively, solve problems, and adapt to a fast-paced, multi-location environment is crucial. Candidates should have:

  • A DVM/VMD degree from an AVMA-accredited institution.
  • 5+ years of clinical veterinary experience, with leadership experience preferred.
  • Active veterinary license and DEA in good standing for Nevada (or ability to obtain).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret performance data and drive improvements.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach to managing relationships with veterinary teams and clients.
  • Ability to manage frequent travel and the demands of overseeing multiple hospitals in the region.

 

Location & Travel: This field-based role is located in the Denver, Phoenix, Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, Austin, Houston, or Dallas and requires regular travel to multiple animal hospitals within the region. Candidates should be based in or near Las Vegas to facilitate efficient travel logistics.
