Description

The Senior Benefits Specialist is responsible for managing benefits administration, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations, and providing exceptional support to employees regarding their benefits and HR-related inquiries. The ideal candidate will bring substantial experience in benefits management, leave administration, and HR systems, with strong communication skills and a customer-focused approach.Β 


Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance and support to employees regarding benefit enrollments, benefit issues, leave administration, HRIS inquiries, and employment verifications.
  • Manage all aspects of benefits administration, including communication with vendors and carriers, as well as facilitating open enrollment processes.
  • Research, resolve, and respond to employee benefit inquiries, ensuring timely and effective resolutions.
  • Perform a variety of HR tasks related to compensation, benefits, leave, employee relations, performance management, safety, and training and development.
  • Address employee relations matters, performance management issues, and other employee concerns, escalating complex or sensitive issues to the appropriate staff.
  • Participate in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, regulations, and best practices; review policies and practices to maintain legal compliance.
  • Administer FMLA, disability programs, and manage coordination between employees, vendors, state agencies, and payroll.
  • Maintain and update employment records in the HRIS, including salary changes, titles, and status updates.
  • Oversee onboarding and offboarding processes, including orientations and exit interviews.
  • Ensure compliance with annual reporting requirements such as EEO-1 and OSHA.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records in both electronic and paper formats.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • 3-5 years of HR Generalist experience with a focus on Benefits, Leave of Absence (LOA) administration, and HRIS management
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience
  • SHRM-CP certification is a plus
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution abilities
  • Excellent organizational skills with high attention to detail
  • Proven ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines
  • High-level customer service skills and a solutions-oriented approach
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and take initiative
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate when appropriate
  • Professionalism, integrity, and the ability to maintain confidentiality
  • In-depth knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems, experience with implementations, a plus


Hybrid Work Schedule

3 days a week in the office, 2 days' working from home


New York Pay Rate $70,000.00 - $80,000.00
