We are currently seeking a Sr. Payroll Specialist to join the team in our Back Bay office. This position serves as senior member of the Payroll & Benefits team. Responsible for the timely and accurate processing of assigned weekly and bi-weekly payrolls, including the importing of time and attendance information from the payroll system, as well as the input of specific payroll maintenance information. This position will act as a subject matter expert in the area of payroll processing and provide support and training to Payroll Specialists, as well as other member of the Payroll and Benefits team.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
• Provide a high-level of payroll-related customer service to internal and external customers.
• Compile all information required for the processing of the payroll and ensure its accuracy by verifying the output.
• Work with the Finance Department to ensure the timely and accurate funding of each payroll for payroll-related liabilities and State and Federal taxes and provide support when needed with general ledger account reconciliations. .
• Maintain the integrity of all payroll-related reporting including year-end reporting and annual employee tax documents.
• Provide support to the Benefits and Human Resources department for various projects as needed.
• Work as part of the Human Resources team to ensure that all employee information is maintained in an accurate and confidential manner.
• Seek innovative ways to improve payroll processes and/or procedures.
• Initiate and deliver process improvements and control in the payroll processes. Redesign payroll related policies and procedures as needed.
• Research current and pending regulations affecting payroll and advise on any changes necessary; assist in ensuring payroll practices remain compliant with all federal, state and local regulations.
• Provide expert guidance to business units on payroll operations and procedures. Identify training requirements and create and deliver relevant content to meet these needs.
Job Specifications
• High School diploma or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of five years of advanced payroll systems experience required.
• Experience working with the ADP payroll (Workforce Now) and benefits system preferred.
• Ability to work independently on a daily basis, requiring strong organizational skills, initiative and good judgment.
• Must demonstrate an ability to handle confidential information in a discreet and professional manner.
• Experience in situations requiring a high level of customer service and patience is essential to success in this position.
• Ability to research, analyze and resolve complex matters requiring comprehensive knowledge of payroll policies and procedures.
