Job Title: Trailhead Store Associate
Accountability: Trailhead Store Associate reports to the Retail Services Manager
Job Classification: Part-time, hourly, non-exempt

The nearly 400 acres of Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden provides visitors with a chance to reconnect with nature in all seasons. The property welcomes guests to spectacular gardens, a conservatory dedicated to the display of tropical plants and orchids, sparkling fountains, nearly 6 miles of trails and a dog park.
The Trailhead Associate is an integral member of the retail team and is primarily responsible for the coordination of daily operations of the Trailhead Store and/or bar service. The Trailhead Associate will deliver superb customer service and exceed the highest quality standards in the day-to-day visitor experiences. An ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, the desire and ability to serve our guests, and impeccable customer service skills to represent the organization in the highest form.
Must be available to work weekends, evenings, and some holidays.
Responsibilities:
· Understands the importance of each guest to the Garden and drives excellence to ensure an optimal experience in every way.
· Welcomes and serves visitors to the Trailhead store, encompassing retail transactions, preparing coffee, pouring alcoholic beverages, promoting merchandise, and selling memberships to visitors.
· Actively performs daily operational tasks to include but not limited to, merchandising, organization of displays, receiving of product, inventory and working with a point-of-sale system.
· Serves as a helpful resource regarding all aspects of the Garden and its grounds, including upcoming events, programs, and product knowledge.
· Provides up to date promotional and marketing materials to Garden guests.
· Manages and maintains information systems used for conducting retail and bar sales.
· Receives and handles cash and card transactions, counting change and accurately closing the register daily.
· Conducts and maintains daily reports and closing procedures.
· Proudly maintains a professional work area, while always ensuring a professional presentation to the public.
· Provides training to other staff on proper procedures as needed.
· Supports all Garden programs and events.
· Exemplifies the Garden Mission Statement and supports staff, departments and leadership in pursuing and achieving goals.
· Performs any other duties needed to help drive to our vision, fulfill our mission, and abide by our values.
· Exhibits a passion for the mission of Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden.
· Successfully pass a standard background review.
· Must obtain the ABC Responsible Alcohol Seller/Server Training and Certificate before first shift executing the responsibilities of
this position.
· Able to work nights, weekends, and some holidays.
· Must possess a valid driver’s license.
· Willing and able to acquire product knowledge fast to assist customers as needed.
· Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
· Ability to service visitors consistently in demanding situations.
· Ability to assist multiple clients at the same time through multitasking.
· Ability to work with minimum supervision.
· This role requires a self-motivated individual.
· Willing to wear a uniform and work outside as needed.
· Ability to work evenings and weekends to meet Garden’s needs.
· Ability to work in a team yet also independently.

Experience & Education:
· Retail experience in coffee & wine strongly preferred.
· Minimum of a high school diploma, associate degree preferred.
· Minimum of 1 year in customer service or sales.
· Computer skills including Square, and Microsoft Outlook experience preferred.
· Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with a diverse audience.
